Workshop Title: Best of Both Worlds: Problems Facing First Generation Americans
Workshop Description: This workshop will explore the challenges of first generation students (someone who has at least one foreign born parent) face in a new country. The constant battle of being caught between two cultures in society and in the household with the family can be problematic for these children. Should society make more of an effort to embrace multicultural communities? Should multicultural communities make a more of an effort to “fit in” or assimilate into American society? Can a perfect balance ever be reached?
Workshop Time: Session II in Quinn Hall Room 104
